The Exodus Card is a virtual debit card built into Exodus Pay, the payments layer of the self-custody Exodus wallet. It lets users spend their Exodus Pay balance online or in stores anywhere the card’s Visa or Mastercard network is accepted. In-store payments are made through Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Instead of spending individual cryptocurrencies directly at checkout, the card uses XO Cash (XO) as its funding balance. XO is a USD-backed stablecoin on Solana issued in partnership with MoonPay and backed 1:1 by reserves consisting of U.S. dollar deposits, U.S. Treasuries and other cash equivalents held with regulated financial institutions.
Background
Exodus previously offered a product called the Exodus Spend Card inside Exodus Mobile. In September 2026, the company moved the card into Exodus Pay and introduced the current Exodus Card. Existing Spend Card users can migrate their accounts while keeping their card details.
The change is part of Exodus Pay, a broader payments system designed to let users deposit, send and spend money while retaining control of their funds through the Exodus self-custody wallet. The Exodus Pay cash balance represents XO held on Solana in the user's wallet, with access controlled through the wallet's recovery credentials.
Terms and fees
The Exodus Card is currently available only as a virtual debit card. There is no physical card, and ATM withdrawals are not supported. Users can pay online with the card details or add the card to Apple Pay or Google Pay for in-store purchases.
The card has a daily purchase limit of $9,500 globally. Existing U.S. cardholders have a higher daily limit of $15,000. New card issuance in the United States is currently unavailable, although existing U.S. users can continue using their cards.
Because XO is denominated in U.S. dollars, purchases in another currency are converted using the exchange rate provided by the relevant card network and payment processor at the time of the transaction. The final rate can therefore differ from rates shown elsewhere.
Exodus does not publish a single flat card spending fee in its current Exodus Pay guide. Fees can arise when adding money through certain funding methods, and the applicable amount is displayed before the deposit is confirmed. Depositing USDC or USDT into Exodus Pay automatically converts the funds into XO Cash.
Key features
The main feature of the Exodus Card is its integration with a self-custody wallet. The XO Cash shown in Exodus Pay remains in the user's Exodus wallet rather than in a conventional custodial account. The user's wallet credentials control access to the balance, while the card provides the payment rail for spending it.
Users can fund Exodus Pay in several ways depending on their location, including supported debit cards, Apple Pay and crypto deposits. USDC and USDT deposited into Exodus Pay are automatically converted into XO and become part of the available cash balance.
The card supports both online and contactless payments. For physical stores, users add the virtual card to Apple Pay or Google Pay and pay through their phone or another compatible device.
Exodus Pay also has a rewards system. Users earn reward points for maintaining an eligible Exodus Pay balance and for qualifying Exodus Card purchases. Card rewards become available 24 hours after a purchase is finalized and can later be converted into XO Cash. In most supported countries, at least 10,000 points are required for a conversion, while the threshold is 4,000 points in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Uruguay.
Unlike a conventional cashback program with a fixed advertised percentage, Exodus currently describes these benefits as points rather than interest or yield and does not publish a universal card cashback percentage in its general Exodus Pay documentation.
One limitation is that the card currently has no PIN functionality. Transactions that require a PIN may therefore fail, although some terminals allow the payment to proceed without entering one. Pre-authorization transactions, commonly used by hotels, rental companies and some other merchants, are currently supported only for cards issued in the United States.
Eligibility
The Exodus Card is available only in selected countries even though Exodus Pay itself has broader global availability. Current supported markets include Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Uruguay and a number of other European jurisdictions.
New Exodus Card issuance is currently unavailable in the United States. Existing U.S. cardholders, except those affected by regional restrictions such as Vermont, can continue using their cards.
Users need to verify their Exodus Pay account before activating the card. Depending on the country, verification can require a tax identification number or SSN, residential address and additional information about employment, source of funds, income and expected account activity.
