Alien Card is the payment card integrated into Alien App, a multi-chain self-custodial wallet currently supporting the Alien and Solana networks. The card is provided through Wirex infrastructure and operates on the Visa network, while Alien itself acts as the wallet interface and technical facilitator rather than the card issuer.
The distinction between the wallet and card infrastructure is important. Alien states that the card draws on the user's own non-custodial wallet balance and that Alien does not hold the private keys or funds available to the card. Regulated card services, transaction handling, disputes and card closure are handled by Wirex and its regional issuing entities.
At launch, Alien lists USDC and Aliencoin as assets that can be used to fund card spending. This makes the product relatively focused compared with multi-asset cards that expose dozens of cryptocurrencies directly to the card.
Fees and funding
Alien currently advertises card issuance as free and states that top-ups with supported assets carry a 0% top-up commission.
That should not be interpreted as the card having no fees in every scenario. Alien has not published a detailed standalone public fee table covering areas such as FX, declined payments or other regional card charges. Those conditions are governed by the applicable Wirex card terms and can depend on the jurisdiction in which the card is issued.
Self-custody and card infrastructure
Alien App itself is non-custodial. Users control their wallet keys, and Alien states that it cannot access or recover the funds held in the wallet.
The card layer is operated separately through Wirex. Wirex and its licensed entities are responsible for issuing and operating the Visa card, while Alien provides access to the service from within its app.
This structure differs from cards that require users to move their crypto into a separate custodial exchange balance before it becomes available for spending. At the same time, card transactions remain subject to the rules, compliance procedures and restrictions of Wirex and the relevant issuing entity.
Verification and availability
Using Alien App already involves identity-related onboarding, including phone verification and Alien's biometric proof-of-humanity system. Card issuance adds conventional KYC on top of that.
Wirex performs the card KYC through Sumsub. Identity, contact and transaction information required for the card can be shared between Wirex, the regional issuer, Visa and Sumsub for issuance, payment processing and regulatory compliance.
The card is only available in supported jurisdictions. Alien does not publish a simple global availability list for the card itself, so eligibility should be checked directly in Alien App before relying on the broader geographic coverage of Wirex.
Mobile payments
Alien Card supports Apple Pay and Google Pay, allowing the card to be used from a compatible phone without requiring a separate physical card for everyday point-of-sale payments.
Alien's current public launch information focuses on the app-issued card and mobile-wallet usage. Details on physical card availability are not clearly documented, so the virtual/mobile version should be treated as the primary confirmed format.
