Krak Card is part of the Krak financial app developed by Kraken. It allows users to spend cryptocurrencies, stablecoins and fiat currencies directly from their Krak Everyday balance without preloading a separate card wallet.
Payments follow a customizable Spend Order. Users decide which assets are spent first, and Krak automatically converts them into the card's settlement currency when needed. Multiple balances can be combined to cover a single purchase.
The card operates under different regional programs. US customers receive a USD-denominated Visa, while UK and EEA users have Mastercard cards denominated in GBP or EUR.
Fees and limits
Virtual and standard physical cards are free, with no monthly or annual maintenance fees. Krak also charges no fees for purchases funded directly with the card's base fiat currency or for ATM withdrawals, although ATM operators may impose their own charges.
Cryptocurrency-funded purchases involve a variable conversion spread. Foreign-currency purchases carry no additional Krak FX markup in the UK and EEA, while US cards incur a 1% foreign transaction fee.
Card spending and ATM limits depend on the region and account. In the US, physical card eligibility requires maintaining a qualifying balance of at least $200 over a 30-day period.
Cashback and rewards
Krak Card offers up to 2% cashback on eligible purchases, with the rate determined by the user's average balance across Krak, Kraken and Kraken Pro over the preceding 30 days.
The standard rewards structure includes five tiers, ranging from 0% for entry-level users to 2% for the highest tier. In the UK and EEA, maximum cashback requires an average balance of £50,000 or €50,000. US reward thresholds are scheduled to change on October 15, 2026, increasing the balance required for 2% cashback to $150,000.
Eligible new users can receive 2% introductory cashback for their first 30 days. Rewards are paid in local fiat currency or Bitcoin after transactions settle, with no standard monthly cashback cap.
Availability and features
Krak Card is available to verified personal account holders in the US, UK and EEA, subject to local restrictions. US issuance excludes New York, Maine, Massachusetts and Indiana.
Both virtual and physical cards support everyday purchases, while physical cards provide conventional ATM access. Apple Pay and Google Pay are supported, and US customers can also use Samsung Pay.
Cardholders can manage their spending priority, block selected assets, receive transaction notifications and freeze their cards through the app.
Krak uses a custodial account model. Funds are held within the Kraken ecosystem rather than a self-custodial wallet. Spending cryptocurrencies may also create taxable transactions depending on the user's jurisdiction.
