Gnosis Pay Card is a self-custodial Visa debit card that lets users spend stablecoins directly from a Gnosis Pay Safe. Unlike many crypto cards, it does not require you to transfer funds to a custodial account or preload a separate card balance. Your assets remain in your Safe until a payment is made.
The card runs on Gnosis Chain and uses Safe smart accounts. It supports stablecoins including EURe, GBPe and USDCe, while merchants receive regular fiat payments through the Visa network. The card can be used for online, in-store and in-app purchases wherever Visa is accepted, subject to regional restrictions.
Gnosis Pay acts as the card program manager, while regulated partners handle card issuance and payment processing. Its partners include Monavate and Paymentology, with Visa providing the global payment network.
Important: Gnosis Pay is retiring its direct-to-consumer card. Existing physical and virtual Gnosis Pay Cards will stop working at 23:59 UTC on December 20, 2026. The company is shifting its focus to card programs offered through partner wallets and fintech applications.
Background
Gnosis introduced Gnosis Pay in 2023 as a decentralized payment network designed to connect self-custodial crypto wallets with traditional payment infrastructure. The Gnosis Card became its first consumer product, offering a Visa debit card connected directly to an onchain wallet.
The card officially launched in partnership with Visa on February 5, 2024. Gnosis Pay initially focused on Europe and the UK before expanding availability to selected markets in Latin America.
In 2025, Gnosis Pay began shifting from operating its own consumer card toward providing payment infrastructure for wallets, fintech companies and neobanks. In September 2026, the company announced that the standalone Gnosis Pay Card and most functions of its web app would close on December 20, 2026. Users can instead move to supported partner card programs, although these are separate products with their own fees, currencies, limits and eligibility requirements.
Terms and fees
Gnosis Pay does not charge a fee for regular card purchases. There is also no additional Gnosis Pay foreign-exchange fee: when a transaction requires currency conversion, Visa's exchange rate is applied.
Ordering the physical card and standard shipping are free. Replacing a lost or stolen card costs 4.99 EURe, GBPe or USDCe. Card payments themselves do not incur blockchain gas fees, although normal network fees can apply when you make separate onchain transfers from your Safe.
ATM withdrawals are free for up to five withdrawals per month or a combined amount of 200 EURe, GBPe or USDCe, whichever limit is reached first. After that allowance is used, Gnosis Pay charges a 2% withdrawal fee. The maximum ATM withdrawal is 250 per transaction and 500 per day.
The card has a maximum single purchase limit of 5,000 EURe, GBPe or USDCe and a rolling 24-hour spending limit of 8,000.
Key features
The defining feature of Gnosis Pay Card is self-custody. Funds remain inside the user's Gnosis Pay Safe rather than being deposited with the card provider. When a purchase is processed, the required balance is used to settle the transaction through the traditional payment network.
The card works both online and at physical merchants and can be connected to mobile wallets. Google Pay support is available in eligible regions, including the EEA, Switzerland, the UK and Brazil, allowing users to make contactless payments from an Android device. Apple Pay is also supported for eligible cards.
Another notable feature is the connection between the card and onchain infrastructure. Users can receive and manage supported assets through their Safe without maintaining a separate prepaid card account. Card transactions themselves do not require the user to manually convert stablecoins into fiat before each purchase.
Gnosis Pay has also offered GNO cashback programs. Its final direct cashback program ends on September 30, 2026, with the final distribution scheduled for October 7. Any future rewards offered through partner applications will follow the rules of those individual programs rather than the legacy Gnosis Pay Card.
Eligibility
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and legal residents of a supported jurisdiction. Identity verification is required because the card connects to the regulated Visa payment network. Gnosis Pay uses Sumsub for KYC verification.
As of 2026, supported countries include the UK and numerous European jurisdictions such as Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. The card is also available to residents of selected Latin American markets, including Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico.
Card availability and the countries where the card can actually be used are separate issues. Gnosis Pay blocks transactions in certain restricted jurisdictions due to sanctions and compliance requirements.
How to get the card
Create a Gnosis Pay account and complete the required identity verification.
Set up the Gnosis Pay Safe connected to your account.
Fund the Safe with a supported stablecoin such as EURe, GBPe or USDCe.
Order and activate the available physical or virtual card.
Add the card to Apple Pay or Google Pay if supported in your region and start using it wherever Visa is accepted.
Because the standalone Gnosis Pay Card is being discontinued on December 20, 2026, new users should also check whether onboarding is still available in their jurisdiction or whether Gnosis Pay directs them to one of its partner card programs.
